Perception and Reality in Interview Preparation

Students preparing for Interviews have a lot of perceptions regarding interview. Some are quite confident that things will happen in this manner only and some are confused. They keep thinking and clarifying their doubts with trainers about the mode of the conducting the interview. Some students get misconception due to its lack of exposure. In this article, I am going to clarify how a candidate should make strategy for this and achieve success in their respective careers.

Understand the meaning of Interview:

Students must understand the real of meaning of the interview. It is a process to assess the skills of candidate with a discussion, oriented towards the expected parameters in him. Here an assessor tries to get into your details and find out the feasibility to recruit as per his requirement. The optimum efforts are required to understand those parameters and these parameters vary as per designation we are aspiring for. To unleash the hidden potential in a candidate, there are different activities. The interviewer’s way of taking interview is absolutely based on the designed profile. The overall discussion in an interview resolves around those set points of selection.

Understand the organization designation you have applied for

Knowing destination helps better to plan. To be fit in expected criteria of an organization begins with its understanding. Get to know the organization well. It’s mission, vision, achievements and its working pattern. The overall preparation strategy goes around the designation you want to get. Your set mission enables you to finalize the vision to pursue it. The interaction is based on that profile only and assessor evaluates you on those expected qualities. Knowing it from its basic criteria to competitive level is important. One can think of the questions easily in an interview if one focuses the working criteria in that profile. Knowing the further hierarchy shows your ambitious nature and knowing it downwards shows how confidently you are here for this.

Introspection makes you understand yourself

To be ready for the assessment you must know yourself well. How well you are suited for this industry and designation. Thinking about your name, place you belong to, academic qualification, strengths, weaknesses, achievements, hobbies, interests and your extracurricular activities give you a strong base and it is called the real preparation. One who knows himself expected to know the whole world but the one is confused about his own details remain confused only. Your projection shows the intensity you have in your work. Once you analyze yourself well, it would be easy to relate your skills with the expected skills and manipulate them too. To achieve success in a interview is almost the work to find out better relation among skills and requirements.

Get to ready to be interviewed not to act specifically

A candidate should put efforts to get ready for the interview with his preparation background rather than expecting some specific thing to happen there. Instead of practicing a set standard, practice to bring versatility in pursuing that. Many students get hesitant when they find that things are not going as they had thought of. Most of the times, there is a discussion whether the interview will be conducted in Hindi or in English. Instead of making perception regarding this, why not to get perfection in it. One should not think to have comfort zone while you are in scene to prove your potential. One should be mentally ready with his skills set to present.

Moralize yourself with existing skills

Our negative assessment makes us think negatively and it really puts a hindrance in Interviews because it is such a process which is to be executed with enthusiasm and self belief. Language improvement is not a one day assignment in fact it takes time to develop it. If a candidate is able to express ideas in English, he/she should be confident to make a good impression. Many students share the problem of language in Interviews. The same concept is applied with knowledge section too. Instead of thinking the uncovered section, one should think and evaluate the covered section.

Have an area of specialization

The interviewee can control the whole discussion if makes relevant statements. It is often an interest of the interviewer to know a candidate’s area of specialization and then to ask questions. This helps the interviewer to assess your showcase of knowledge which helps him in decision making. If it is not known, the interviewer will definitely start asking from other sections which may be quite challenging for a candidate.

Follow the above mentioned points and give a confident touch to your approach of Interview Skills !
