How to join Territorial Army for Civilians

Role of Territorial Army
- To relieve the Regular Army from static duties
- Assist Civil Administration in dealing with natural calamities
- Maintenance of essential services in situations where life of the communities is affected or the security of the Country is threatened
- Provide units for Regular Army as and when required
Presently, the Territorial Army has an approximately 40, 000 persons. Candidates can join the Territorial Army as Officers and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO). Territorial Army Notification
Territorial Army Recruitment Dates for Civilians post each year follows:
- Application form to be released in May-June
- Date of written exam to be held in July month
- The exam will be conducted offline across 17 cities.

PIB Written Examguidelines must be considered strictly on the basis of exam pattern
- - Objective (OMR answer sheet will be used)
- - Maximum time for each paper is 02 hours and will be conducted in two sessions from 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs and 14:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs
- - Minimum 40% marks in each part of each paper separately and have an overall average of 50% in each paper to qualify
- - .33 marks deducted for wrong answers
- - There will be no penalty for questions not attempted
Selected candidates in PIB written exam appear for PIB interview followed by Medical examination. After rigid testing and examination process the final merit list is prepared for the selected Civilians in Territorial Army. Selected candidates are allotted to move for training under Indian Army.
Training:
(a) One month basic training in the first year of commission.
(b) Two months annual training camp every year including the first year.
(c) Three months Post Commissioning training within first two years at IMA, Dehradun.
