1. Ajit Pawar has taken oath as the new Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra-

NCP leader Ajit Pawar has taken oath as the new Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This is the third time in the last 5-years that Ajit Pawar has taken oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

 

2. DGCA tied up with EASA for drone technology-

Indian aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has signed an MoU with European aviation regulator European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for cooperation in unmanned aircraft systems and innovative air technology. Under this, cooperation will be done in the field of unmanned aircraft and new air technology between the two civil aviation authorities.

 

3. Chandrayaan-3 mission has been launched with P Veeramuthuvel as the project director of the mission-

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully launched India's third moon mission Chandrayaan-3. It was launched from the launch vehicle 'LVM3' from the Satish Dhawan Space Center. P Veeramuthuvel is the project director of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft and its mission of soft landing on the Moon. He was also involved in the Chandrayaan 2 mission in 2019.      

 

4. JIMEX Maritime Exercise 2023 was organized between the Navy of India and Japan-

The seventh edition of the Japan-India Maritime Exercise 2023 (JIMEX 23) organized by the Indian Navy was held in the Bay of Bengal. Indian Navy ships 'Delhi', 'Kamorta' and 'Shakti' participated in this six-day exercise. A ship named 'Samidare' from Japan participated in this maritime exercise.

 

5. DGCA has recognized the first Flying Training Organization of Gujarat-

Aviation regulator DGCA has approved 'EKVI Air Training Organization Private Limited' as the first Air Training Organization in Tamil Nadu. This Flying Training Organization is situated in Salem. Under this, this organization will provide training opportunities to aspiring pilots in the state as per the standards set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is a statutory body of the Government of India to regulate civil aviation in India.

 

6. India ranked fourth in the world's most powerful armies as per Global Firepower report-

According to the latest ranking of 2023 by Global Firepower, a data website containing information related to the defense of the countries of the world, India is the fourth most powerful army country in the world. USA is on top in this list. In this ranking, after the US, Russia and China are in second and third place respectively. Countries with weak military forces have also been included in this list, which includes countries like Bhutan and Iceland. India ranks above European countries like UK and Italy.

 

7. S V Bhatti took oath as Supreme Court judge along with Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan-

Justices Ujjwal Bhuiyan and SV Bhatti took oath as judges of the Supreme Court. Now the number of judges in the Supreme Court has increased to 32. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud administered the oath of office to both the judges at a ceremony held at the Supreme Court. Justice Bhuiyan was serving as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. While Justice Bhatti was the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

 

8. France awarded the highest award 'Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour' to PM Modi-

PM Modi has been awarded the highest honor of France 'Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour'. French President Emmanuel Macron gave this honor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi has become the first Indian PM to receive this honour. In June 2023, Egypt honored PM Modi with its highest honor 'Order of the Nile'. 

 

9. India-Tanzania Defence Cooperation-

During the recent visit of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Tanzania, significant developments took place in the defence cooperation between India and Tanzania. These engagements highlight India’s commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s doctrine of SAGAR (Security and Growth for all in the Region).

 

10. Millet-based Menu for Armed Forces-

In a progressive move, the Ministry of Defence has taken a significant step towards promoting healthy food practices among the defence personnel. The ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to introduce a millet-based menu in the messes, canteens, and other food outlets of the armed forces. 

 

11. Update on Rafale Marine Aircraft-

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Paris, significant proposals were put forth by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC). These proposals aimed to strengthen the Indian Navy through the procurement of Rafale Marine fighter jets and Scorpene submarines.

 

12. “Bhoomi Samman” 2023-

The “Bhoomi Samman” 2023 is set to be presented by the President of India on 18th July 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. This prestigious award ceremony aims to acknowledge the outstanding performance of individuals and teams in the implementation of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP). 

 

13. Nomadic Elephant – 2023 scheduled to take place in Mongolia-

The Indian Army contingent embarked on a significant journey to Mongolia to participate in the 15th edition of the joint military exercise called ‘Nomadic Elephant 2023.’ This annual training event serves as a platform for India and Mongolia to enhance their military cooperation, foster bilateral relations, and strengthen regional security. The exercise, scheduled to take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from July 17-31, aims to focus on counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain under a United Nations mandate. 

 

14. 25th Director General of Indian Coast Guard-

DG Rakesh Pal has assumed the position of the 25th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), bringing along a vast reservoir of knowledge and proficiency. DG Rakesh Pal has undergone specialized training in Gunnery & Weapons Systems and Electro-Optics Fire Control Solution. His dedication to honing his skills and knowledge has earned him the recognition of being the First Gunner of the ICG, a testament to his expertise in the field.
