India emerged as the World’s 2nd largest producer of crude steel.

• India has moved from 4th largest producer of crude steel to the 2nd largest producer of crude steel.
• India has reported a hike of 42% in Crude steel production from 88.98 MT(Metric ton) in 2014-15 to 126.26 MT in 2022-23.

Karnataka announces free bus travel ‘Shakti’ scheme for women.

• The Shakti scheme applies only to the ordinary state-run bus services of Karnataka.
• The government has already issued a set of guidelines on the ‘Shakti’ scheme, which is one of the major poll promises by the Congress party in Karnataka.

China has opened the world’s most powerful hypersonic wind tunnel.

• China has recently completed the construction of the most powerful wind tunnel in the world, located in the mountainous Huairou district of northern Beijing.
• The wind tunnel, called JF-22, has a diameter of 4 meters (13 feet) and can generate incredibly high airflow speeds of up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) per second.

SIDBI has launched the mission EVOLVE to finance the electric vehicle industry.

• SIDBI (Small Scale Industry Development Bank of India) has partnered with Niti Ayog, World Bank, and Korea World Bank to finance the electric vehicle industry.

OECD estimates India’s going growth rate is going to be 7.2% in 2023.

• OECD (Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development) has estimated that India’s growth rate in the financial year 2023 is going to be 7.2% and in the financial year 2022, the growth rate is going to be 6%.

Sunil Kumar wins decathlon gold at Asian Under 20 Athletics Championship.

• India’s Sunil Kumar scored 7003 points and clinched gold in the men’s decathlon at the Asian U20 Athletics Championships in Yecheon, South Korea.
