The government has launched a new scheme for women called New Swarnima Scheme.

• The Swarnima Scheme is a term loan scheme introduced by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to support women entrepreneurs from backward classes.

‘Mission Vatsalya’ scheme for rape victims minor girls.

• The Central Government announced a special scheme for providing medical and financial assistance to the victims of rape, who are pregnant.

Lieutenant General M.U. Nair has been appointed as Cyber Security Coordinator.

• Lt Gen Nair, who took on the role of the 28th Signal Officer-in-Chief in July 2022, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the areas of cyber warfare, signal intelligence, and communication and information technology.

Iran becomes a full-time member of SCO.

• Iran has become the 9th  full-time member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
• Russia, China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, and Pakistan are members of SCO and now Iran has become its latest member.

New Zealand becomes first country to ban plastic produce bags.

• New Zealand becomes the first country to ban plastic produce bags at supermarkets including Recyclable, biodegradable or plant-based plastic bags.

India’s Global Commercial Services Exports Share Doubles to 4.4%.

• The World Bank and WTO report underscores India's notable progress in global commercial services exports, doubling its share to 4.4% in 2022.

• India has defeated Kuwait to become the champion of SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) Championship.
• Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made the difference once again as he saved a crucial penalty kick in the summit clash to help India beat Kuwait 5-4 in the shootout and clinch SAFF Championships title

Lallianzuala Chhangte wins AIFF Men’s Footballer of the Year award for 2022-23

• Indian football team midfielder Lallianzuala Chhangte was named the AIFF Men’s Footballer of the Year for 2022-23 while Manisha Kalyan won her second consecutive Women’s Footballer of the Year award.

132nd Durand Cup tournament to be organized in Kolkata.

• The 132nd edition of Durand Cup, India's oldest football tournament is scheduled to commence at Kolkata from 03 August to 03 September 2023.
