What is the Republic Day Parade?
The Republic Day parade is the largest and most significant of India’s Republic Day celebrations. Every year on January 26th, the parade takes place on the Kartavya Path (formally Rajpath) in New Delhi. The first parade fell in 1950 and it has taken place every year for that reason. The parade marches along the Kartavya Path from the Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate and then to the Red Fort.
Women Centric Republic Day Parade
Republic Day Parade 2024 is going to set an example of women- empowerment. This year, female warriors of the Indian Armed Forces will have an overwhelming presence in the Republic Day Parade 2024. From the all-women contingent of Agniveers to Flypast by Female Pilots, this year's Republic Day Parade is going to be unique and will be remembered in years to come. All Women Marching Contingent
144 Female Agnivers from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Airforce will participate in the Republic Day Parade 2024. 48 Agniveers each from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force will participate in this contingent. This all-women contingent will be led by a female officer from the Corps of Military Police. This is the first time that such a large contingent of female soldiers will participate in the Republic Day Parade.
15 Female Pilots Giving Flypast to The Parade
15 Pilots of the Indian Air Force will give a flypast this year in Republic Day Parade 2024. Every year, pilots of the Indian Air Force give a flypast to the President and the Chief Guest of the Republic Day Parade. This year, the flypast is going to be very special because this flypast will be given by Female Pilots of the Indian Air Force. IAF will also operate various platforms during the aerial flypast that will feature Tejas and SU 30 MKI combat jets as well as recently-inducted C-295 transport aircraft
IAF Contingent to be led by Female Officers
Squadron Leader Rashmi Thakur will lead the marching Contingent of the Indian Air Force. Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav, Squadron Leader Pratiti Ahluwalia, and Flight Lieutenant Kirti Rohil are going to be the leaders of this contingent. Squadron Leader Rashmi Thakur is a flight controller in the Indian Air Force. She was commissioned in 2015 from Indian Air Force Academy.
All Women Contingent of Three CAPFs
Three Central Armed Police Forces i.e. CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), CISF (Central Industrial Security Force), and SSB (Shashtra Seema Bal) will also have an all-women contingent. These three contingents will showcase Nari Shakti on the Kartvya Path before the President of India and the French President, Emanuel Macron who is going to be the Chief Guest of Republic Day Parade 2024.
This women-centric parade will leave a great impression on the upcoming generations who aspire to join the Indian Armed Forces. These officers and soldiers belong to humble backgrounds and they chose to follow their dreams. These women officers and soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces will represent India on the Kartvyapath when the whole world will be watching them.
