After clearing the written exam of the NDA the second step is related to your health and fitness. Only male candidates can join the services through NDA. In the physical efficiency test the following things are consider such as
1. your Height
2. your weight
3. your teeth
4. your all body parts must be free from any kind of disease
5. your blood pressure must be normal
6. your eyesight must be according to the prescribed format by the defense department.
7. for army/air force the height and weight both are same but in the case of navy your height and weight is different.
8. your joints of body must be in good position.
The aim of physical training programs implemented by the Physical Training Team at the NDA is to build up the stamina, endurance and agility of cadets. Physical fitness test includes:
•Physical and battle proficiency tests.
•Endurance training, obstacle training and swimming are designed to augment the physical progress and body development.
•Participation in physical training competitions, games and sports also contribute to physical growth.
•Games played by the cadets at NDA include Football, Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Squash,
Tennis, Boxing, etc
PHYSICALLY FITNESS TEST:-

In order to qualify the physical test, rectify these minor elements.
- Wax (Ears),Deviated Nasal Septum,Hydrocele/Phimosis
- Overweight/Underweight, Under sized Chest, Piles
- Gynaecomastia,Tonsillitis,Varicocele

- You must be free from serious diseases.
- You must not be any bone & joint disease.
- You must not have mental breakdown or fits.
- You must have well developed chest.
- Your chest must be fully expanded & not less than 81 c.m.
- After full inspiration the minimum chest expansion is 5 c.m.
- There must be a routine of ECG and EEG check up for Air Force candidates.It should be within normal limits.
HEIGHT & WEIGHT:-

- Minimum acceptable height required is 157.5 c.m. But it is 162.5 c.m in case of Air Force.
- Minimum height required is 152.5 c.m. for Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern regions of India, Garhwal and Kumaon candidates.

SPINE CONDITIONS:-
Presence of any of these conditions will disqualify the candidate immediately:
- Granulomatous disease of spine
- Arthritis / spondylosis (Rheumatoid arthritis and allied disorders / Ankylosing spondylitis / Osteoarthrosis, spondylosis and degenerative joint disease / Non articular rheumatism (e.g. lesions of the rotator cuff, tennis elbow, recurrent lumbago etc.) & Miscellaneous disorders including SLE, polymyositis, vasculitis.
- Spondylolisthesis / spondylolysis.
- Compression fracture of vertebrae.
- SC Heuerman’s disease (Adolescent kyphosis)
- Loss of cervical lordosis when associated with clinically restricted movements of cervical spine.
- Unilateral / Bilateral cervical ribs with demon stable neurological or circulatory deficit.
- Scoliosis more than 15 degree as measured by Cobb’s method.
- Degenerative Disc. Disease.
- Presence of Schmorl’s nodes at more than one level.
- Atlanto-occipital and atlantoaxial anomalies.
- Hemi vertebrae and/or incomplete block (fused) vertebrae at any level in cervical, dorsal or lumbar spine and complete block (fused) vertebrae at more than one level in cervical or dorsal spine.
- Unilateral Sacralisation or lumbarisation (Complete or incomplete) at all levels and bilateral incomplete sacralisation or lumbarisation.
- Any other abnormality if so considered by the specialist.
X-Ray Exam
There will be a separate presence of any of the following conditions will disqualify the applicant for posts of Armed Forces:
- Granulomatous disease of spine.

- Spina Bifida other than SV 1 and LV 5 if completely Sacralised
- Any other abnormality, if so considered by specialist

General physical requirements common for all candidates.
1. You must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/ disability, which is likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties. There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or overweight.
2. Your chest should be well developed. The minimum range of expansion after full inspiration should be 5 cm.
3. There should be no disease of bones and joints of the body.
4. You should be free of any past history of mental breakdown or fits.
5. Your hearing should be normal without any evidence of present or past disease of the ear, nose and throat.
6. There should be no sign of functional or organic disease of the heart and blood vessels. Your blood pressure should also be normal.
7. The muscles of the abdomen should be well developed without any enlargement of the liver or spleen. Any evidence of disease of internal organs of the abdomen can be a cause for rejection.
8. An un-operated hernia can make you unfit for selection. If operated, this should have been done at least six months prior to the present examination and healing should be complete without any potential for recurrence.
9. There should be no hydrocele, varicocele or piles. If operated for hydromel and/or varicocele, this should have been done at least six months prior to the present examination and healing should be complete without any recurrence.
10. Urine examination will be done and any abnormality, if detected, can be a cause for rejection.
11. Any disease of the skin, which is likely to cause disability or disfigurement, will also be a cause for rejection.
12. Vision will be tested. You must have good binocular vision. In case you have undergone or are detected to have undergone Radial Keratotomy, or any other procedure to improve the visual acuity, you will be permanently rejected.
13. You should have sufficient number of natural and sound teeth. A minimum of 14 dental points will be acceptable. When 32 teeth are present, the total dental points are 22. You should not be suffering from severe pyorrhea.
Step 1
As all the recruitments are done through rallies so the first step towards joining is to contact nearest Branch recruiting Office/Zonal Recruiting Office and get the details of Rally schedule and report to rally site on the dates announced on Notice Board along with your Educational Certificate, Birth Certificate (in original) domicile certificate, character certificate and six passport size photographs.
Step 2
One has to go for the Physical Fitness Tests (PFT) carrying following events of 100 marks in all.

(b) Pull Ups
(c) Balance
(d) 9 Feet Ditch
