India-Indonesia Bilateral Exercise Samudra Shakti - 2023

  • India and Indonesia to participate in the 4th edition of India-Indonesia Bilateral exercise Samudra Shakti-23 from 14-19 May 23.
  • An Indian Navy Dornier Maritime Patrol aircraft and Chetak helicopter are also participating. The Indonesian Navy will be represented by KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda, CN 235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft and AS565 Panther Helicopter.

  • Doctors will now have to get a Unique Identification Number (UID) to be able to practice medicine in the country, as per the new regulations by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

India’s overall exports in April 2023 were estimated at USD 65.02 billion registering a positive growth of 2 percent.

  • India’s overall exports (Merchandise and Services combined) in April 2023 are estimated to be USD 65.02 Billion, registering a positive growth of 2.00 per cent over April 2022. Overall imports in April 2023 are estimated to be USD 66.40 Billion, registering a negative growth of (-) 7.92 per cent over April 2022.

Air marshal ashutosh dixit takes over as deputy chief of the air staff.

  • Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit took over as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff today.
  • The Air Marshal is a Qualified Flying Instructor as well as an Experimental Test pilot, with over 3300 hours of flying experience on fighter, trainer and transport aircraft. He participated in Operation Safed Sagar and Rakshak.

Geeta Rao Gupta was appointed as US Ambassador at Large for Global Women’s Issues.

  • The US Senate has approved Geeta Rao Gupta, an Indian American, as the Ambassador at Large for Global Women's Issues in the State Department.

International Cricket Council abolishes the rule of Soft Signal by Filed Umpires, and other two new rules were added.

  • Now Field Umpires will not be able to show soft signals to TV Umpires.
  • Now Field Umpires will consult TV Umpires before making any decision.
  • Now, Helmets will be made mandatory.
  • Now, Runs Scored in a free-hit ball which hits the stumps, will be counted.
