HAL delays delivery of first Tejas Mk-1A to mid-2024

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has test-flown its first production Tejas Mk-1A Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). However, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is unlikely to get the aircraft until mid-2024.

 

Defence Secretary inaugurates new hovercraft maintenance unit for Indian Coast Guard

Defence Secretary Girish Chandra Aramane visited Indian Coast Guard facilities in the North-Western region on March 28-29, 2024. During the visit, he inaugurated the infrastructure for the Hovercraft Maintenance Unit (HMU) at Okha. The Hovercraft Maintenance Unit (HMU) will help in the maintenance of hovercrafts, which are used for surveillance purposes in the 50 different islands in the Area of Responsibility (AOR). These hovercrafts are based at Okha and Jakhau and are equipped with advanced equipment and tools.

 

HAL signs ₹1,173.42 crore contract with Cochin Shipyard Limited

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has signed a ₹1,173.42 crore contract with Cochin Shipyard Limited for the supply of gas turbines, GT auxiliaries, spares and tools for the Indian Navy's Next Generation Missile Vessel (NGMV) project.

Indian Air Force (IAF) to showcase its strength and capability to carry out high-octane operations during the upcoming 'Gaganshakti-2024' exercise

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will showcase its strength and capability to carry out high-octane operations in a "realistic environment" during the upcoming 'Gaganshakti-2024' exercise from April 1-10, which will involve all Air Force bases and Strategic Assets across the country. 'Gaganshakti' was last held in 2018 when the Indian Air Force flew over 11,000 sorties during the two-phase air combat exercise, which saw the Indian Airforce's platforms reach the Eastern Front from the Western Sector in less than 48 hours.
