A young defence aspirant can opt for the National Defence Academy - NDA after passing his 10+2 examination which is held twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The NDA written examination consists of two sections, Mathematics and GAT (General Ability Test). The NDA written exam is conducted in an offline mode and consists of only objective-type questions with responses to be put on an OMR sheet.

Career Option in Air Force X and Y Group for 12th Appearing Students

The interested candidates can also opt for the Airforce X and Y Group examination conducted twice a year by the Central Airmen Selection Board (CASB) of the Indian Air Force.

The Indian Army holds the MNS Written Exam at various locations around the country which is administered online via a 90-minute long computer-based test.

The MNS written exam is conducted in two shifts across specified examination centers with three primary sections: General English, General Intelligence, and General Science.

A total of 150 questions from the three sections are asked in the exam from three sections namely, General English, General Intelligence, and General Science.

There will be only objective-type questions in the MNS online exam and there is no negative marking in the MNS exam.
Career Option in Navy AA & SSR for 12th Appearing Students

The 10+2 appearing candidates willing to join the Indian Navy can opt for the Navy Artificer Apprentice (AA) & Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) examination.

The Indian Navy SSR and AA exam is conducted in three stages - Written Test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Medical Examination.

Career Option in Coast Guard for 12th Appearing Students

After passing their 10+2 examination with Physics/Mathematics, the interested defence aspirants can also opt for the Navik General Duty examination conducted by the Indian Coast Guard.

The Indian Indian Coast Guard Navik selection process consists of various stages that include a written examination, physical fitness test, medical examination, and document verification.

The minimum age to apply for the Coast Guard exam is 18 Years while the maximum age limit for the candidates is 22 years.

The written examination consists of objective questions only. Candidates who qualify for the written exam are called for the Physical fitness test (PFT).
