Importance of the New Weapon Systems Branch of IAF
The Central Government has consented to the creation of a weapon systems branch in the Indian Air Force for the first time since independence. While addressing a gathering on the 90th Air Force Day, Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari revealed the central government's headway and stated that the establishment of the new branch would help reduce spending on flying training. Significant improvements are being brought about by the changing roles of the air force.

Surface-to-Surface missile operators, Surface-to-Air missile operators, Remotely Piloted Aircraft operators, and Weapon System Operators in twin/multi-crew aircraft would be included in the branch.
-
The new weapon systems branch will make a significant contribution to the Indian Air Force's special operations capability, as well as to the synergy among all three services, as no service can achieve victory alone.
-
In addition to the flying, technical, and ground duty branches, the weapon systems branch will be the fourth branch of the Indian Air Force.
