Expected Dates for CDS 1 2021 SSB Interview and Detailed Procedure

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the written results of the CDS 1 2021 exam which was conducted on 7th February, 2021. A total of 6552 candidates have qualified for the SSB Interview to be conducted by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The UPSC conducts the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination twice a year to select the eligible male and female candidates as commissioned officers in the Indian Armed Forces. After qualifying for the CDS written exam, the shortlisted candidates are called for the SSB Interview for final selection for admission to the following academies of the Indian Armed Forces.
 

• Indian Military Academy, Dehradun
• Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala,
• Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course
• Officers Training Academy, Chennai

The final dates regarding the SSB Interview for the CDS 1 2021 exam have not been announced yet. However, the SSB Interview is expected to be scheduled in May/June 2021. The selection process of the CDS exam consists of a written exam and an extensive interview by the Services Selection Board followed by the medical examination. After a thorough assessment of the candidates at different stages of the selection process, a final merit list of the selected candidates is declared by the UPSC based on their performance in the written exam and the SSB Interview. The finally selected candidates will be given admission to the following academies as per their preferences, suitability and eligibility for the courses commencing in January 2022 and April 2022.

The Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala, and the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad offer Permanent Commission (PC) to the male candidates after completion of their training. Contrary to it, the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai provides Short Service Commission (SSC) to both the male and female candidates after completion of their training period.

CDS 1 2021: SSB Interview Detailed Procedure

The SSB Interview in the CDS exam is the next process after the declaration of the written results. The SSB Interview is a 5 day long procedure conducted by the Services Selection Board at its different centers located across India at different places. The SSB Interview evaluates the intellect and suitability of the candidate for becoming an officer in the Indian Armed Forces. The SSB Interview comprises a panel of eminent assessors who are proficient in examining the personality, psychology, intelligence, and officer like qualities in a candidate.

The SSB Interview consists of two stages of the selection process. Stage 1 is a screening test that consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT), whereas Stage II consists of Psychology Tests, Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks, Interview& Conference.

SSB Interview: Day 5 - Conference

After completion of all the tasks, the result is announced on the last day of the SSB Interview procedure and the selected candidates undergo the medical examination and then after a few months a final merit list of the recommended candidates is announced.
