Why do Officers and Soldiers of the Indian Army wear Badges?
Every Badge worn by Soldiers and Officers of the Indian Army shows a unique identity and achievement. Soldiers and officers wear many types of badges to showcase their regiment, achievement, and special abilities. Some badges also show the tenures served in NSG, Rashtriya Rifles, Assam Rifles, etc.

Balidan Badge |
Balidan Badge is worn by Soldiers and Officers of Para Special Forces of the Indian Army. Balidan resembles the sacrifice done by members of para special forces. This badge is awarded only after the first confirmed kill during an operation. |

Special Force Badge |
The Special Forces Badge is worn on both sleeves of the uniform. This badge is given after completing the selection process of special forces, known as ‘hell week’. |

Para Wing Badge |
This para wing badge is awarded after completing the para course. This badge is given after completing four successful jumps which include 3-day jumps and 1-night jump. |

Combat Free Fall Badge |
Combat Free Fall Badge is given after completing HAHO (High Altitude High Opening) and HALO (High Altitude Low Opening). |

Jump Indicator Badge |
Para Jump Indicator Badges indicate the number of jumps. One Star Badge shows 25 successful jumps. Two Star Badge shows 50 successful jumps. Three Star Badge shows 100 or more jumps. |

Combat Diver Badge |
Soldiers and Officers of the Indian Army earn Combat Diver Badge after completing Combat Diving Course. Soldiers and Officers holding this badge are able to conduct underwater missions. |

Maverick Badge |
Maverick Badge is earned by elite soldiers and officers of the Indian Army. These soldiers and officers of the Indian Army are trained for special clandestine missions. Generally, these operations are conducted by R&AW. |

SAG NSG Badge |
SAG Bade or Special Actions Group Badge is worn by Members of ex-Members of Special Action Group under NSG. Members of SAG-51 (Anti-Terrorism Unit) and SAG-52 (Anti-Hijacking Unit) wear this badge. |

Rashtriya Rifles Badge |
Soldiers and Officers of the Indian Army who are part of Rashtriya Rifles or RR wear this badge on their right uniform. |

Assam Rifles Badge is worn by Officers of the Indian Army who have served or are serving in the Assam Rifles. |

Instructor Badge |
Instructor Badge is worn by Soldiers and Officers who have achieved Instructor grading and are serving as instructors in the Indian Army. |

ATGM Badge |
ATGM or Anti Tank Guided Missile Badge is worn on the right side of the uniform. This badge is awarded after successfully hitting the target with an Anti Tank Missile. |

Tank Fired ATGM Badge is worn on the right side of the uniform. This badge is awarded after successfully hitting the target with an Anti Tank Missile from Tank. |
