Agnipath is a new HR Management system for the Armed Forces, and candidates recruited through it will be known as Agniveers, who will be governed under the Air Force Act 1950 for a term of four years after enrolling in the Indian Air Force.

Efforts will be made to recruit Agniveers from all over the country, leveraging modern technology, dedicated rallies, and campus interviews at renowned technical institutes, among other things.

Agniveers would be a distinct rank in the Indian Air Force, separate from any other current rank, and each 'Agniveer' would be expected to formally accept all terms and conditions of the Agnipath Scheme as part of the enlistment process. In accordance with existing laws, parents or guardians must sign the enrolment form for personnel under the age of eighteen.

All Agniveers will return to society after a four-year term. Agniveers who have left the Indian Air Force will be given the chance to seek enlistment in the regular cadre based on organizational requirements and policies published by the Indian Air Force.
Age Limit, Educational Qualification, Physical Standards
Eligible age will be in a range from 17.5 years to 21 years. Other educational qualifications and physical standards would be issued by the Indian Air Force.
Medical Standards
Agniveers will have to meet the medical eligibility conditions laid down for enrolment in the India Air Force as applicable to respective categories or trades.
Employability
Agniveers enrolled under this entry are liable to be assigned any duty in organizational interest, at the discretion of the India Air Force.
Uniforms
To encourage and recognize the dynamism of youth, a distinctive insignia will be worn by Agniveers on their uniform during their engagement period.
Honors and Awards
Agniveers will be entitled to honors and awards, as per extant guidelines governing the subject for the Indian Air Force.
Leave
Grant of leave will be subject to exigencies of service and the leave may be applicable for Agniveers during their engagement period including an annual leave for 30 days per year and sick leave based on medical advice.
Medical and CSD Facilities
For the duration of their engagement period in the Indian Air Force, Agniveers will be entitled to the medical facility at Service Hospitals as well as Canteen Stores Department (CSD) provisions.
Provident Fund and Gratuity
Agniveers will not be required to contribute to any Provident Fund of the Government. Additionally, there shall be no entitlement to gratuity and any kind of pensionary benefits in the case of Agniveers.
Life Insurance Cover
Agniveers will be provided life insurance cover of Rs. 48 lakhs for the duration of their engagement
period as Agniveers in the Indian Air Force.
Agniveer Corpus Fund and Remuneration
On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be eligible to receive the ‘Seva Nidhi’ package, which shall comprise their contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund and a matching contribution from the Government and interest on the accumulated amount.
