NDA (National Defence Academy)
What is NDA?
NDA Stands for National Defence Academy, which is a premier joint training Institution and center of excellence for producing junior officers, for the Indian armed forces. NDA is Combined Defence exam For Army, Navy and Air Force. NDA imparts training to young men, who choose the Armed Forces as their career. The training equips the students with mental, moral and physical attributes equired to cope with the challenges of the future battle field. They are given an intensive education in Science, Technology, Arts and Military subjects. At the end of their three-year course, which is split into six terms, a cadet is awarded a Bachelor Degree from JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University). In the three years at NDA, student is transformed into a potential officer and a gentleman. The NDA is located at Khadakwasla near Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world.
On successful completion of the three-year training course at NDA, Khadakwasla, Pune
1. Army cadets proceed to theIndian Military Academy at Dehradun
2. Naval cadets toIndian Naval Academy at Ezhimala
3. Air Force cadets to theAir Force Academy at Hyderabad
After completion of one year of training at their respective academies, they are commissioned as officers into respective services
How to join NDA
To join National Defence Academy a candidate must appear in the entrance exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission. The NDA entrance examination is held twice a year, normally in month of March and August. The notification comes out in the months of Dec-Jan and May-June and the exam is conducted in the months of April and September. UPSC is solely responsible for issuing guidelines for selection and the final conduct of the entrance examination. NDA has no role to play in selection procedure, setting eligibility criterion, examination details etc. You can join Nda after your 10+2. Your age should be between 16 1/2 years to 19 years.
