'Steel-cutting' ceremony of Navy's first fleet support ship held in Andhra…

The 'Steel Cutting' ceremony of the first of five Fleet Support Ships (FSS) of the Indian Navy was held at Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam. The Fleet Support Ships will enhance the 'Blue Water' capabilities of the Indian Navy through re-supply of fleet ships at sea. Defense Secretary Giridhar Armane presided over the ceremony. Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, CMD, HSL Commander Hemant Khatri (Retd) and other senior officers of the Indian Navy and HSL were present on the occasion.

The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) department of Command Hospital (Southern Command) in Pune has implanted two piezoelectric bone conduction hearing implants (BCIs) in a 7-year-old child suffering from severe congenital external and middle ear anomalies. An adult with hearing loss and single-sided deafness (SSD) has become the first government hospital across the country to procure and operate successful piezoelectric bone conduction hearing implants.
